Circle Gateway Adds cirBTC and EURC Support Across Chains
Circle Internet Financial has expanded its Circle Gateway infrastructure to support cirBTC and EURC, marking a notable shift beyond its primary dollar backed stablecoin, USDC. The upgrade lets developers and market makers manage unified liquidity pools across multiple blockchains without relying on fragmented third party bridging services.
The inclusion of EURC provides institutional traders with direct access to euro denominated digital liquidity across compatible chains. Demand for euro stablecoins has grown steadily under European Union regulatory frameworks, prompting automated market makers and international desks to seek compliant foreign exchange channels on chain. With Gateway support, treasury desks can move EURC balances across networks without incurring heavy slippage or facing wrapped asset counterparty vulnerabilities.
Circle move to introduce cirBTC represents an even more consequential development for decentralized finance. The asset provides a standardized, Circle backed representation of Bitcoin that can flow across platforms such as Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche. Rather than leaving Bitcoin idle or routing it through complex custodial bridge tokens, traders can use cirBTC as high quality collateral in collateralized borrowing protocols, derivatives exchanges, and cross chain structured products.
Gateway functions by utilizing native burn and mint mechanisms, alongside smart contract accounting that pools balance states across supported chains. This architecture eliminates the need for deep liquidity pools on every individual network, cutting operating costs for decentralized apps and financial intermediaries. Developers can embed one click deposit and withdrawal options into their user interfaces, letting traders hold an asset on one chain and deploy it on another in a single transaction sequence.
With USDC, EURC, and cirBTC operating within the same settlement framework, Circle is establishing an integrated clearing layer for primary crypto assets. Traders expect the broader liquidity infrastructure to reduce arbitrage inefficiencies and bridge exploit risks across the wider decentralized trading sector.
